Rich in history, the town of Mint Hill is primarily a residential community. Located in Mecklenburg County, the town was incorporated in 1971 and today its population is approximately 22,000 people. Only a 20 minute drive from Uptown, Mint Hill’s residents enjoy the small town atmosphere conveniently located close to Matthews and the Charlotte area. The Mint Hill business community has seen substantial growth over the last decade and area businesses now number over 285. Mint Hill is filled with old subdivisions and new developments. These area communities are both homey and modern and are predominantly traditional in style and in layout. Each September the town celebrates their annual festival, “Mint Hill Madness”, complete with a fair and parade featuring local businesses, talents and Mint Hill’s own Volunteer Fire Department. In addition, the town has a variety of restaurants, shops and two community parks. Mint Hill communities include the Gates of Mint Hill, Chacewater, Casabell, Mintwood Estates, Ashe Plantation, Olde Sycamore, The Village of Brooksknoll, Davis Trace, Beech Mint Plantation and Stonebridge.
The historic community of Matthews is located in Mecklenburg and Union County. This developing area has grown to about 32 thousand residents and encompasses over thirteen miles. The downtown area is small yet inviting and has been renovated with the new Town Hall Library, as well as several shops and restaurants. Matthews has five public schools, several different private schools and the community college Levine campus of CPCC. Presbyterian Hospital is also located in Matthews and serves Charlotte and the surrounding areas.
